Movie Reviews: First a TV movie Saturday Night on HBO called Bright Lights, a documentary/biopic about Debbie Reynolds and daughter Carrie Fisher. Behind the scenes, home movies, private moments, drugs, mental health, heart break, and the true love of a mother and daughter, no matter how strained it may get. It’s old Hollywood at it’s best and worse (95 Minutes) – (4 Stars). On the Big Screen, Hidden Figures is the true story of three black women, all brilliantly played by, Janelle Monae, Octavia Spencer and Taraji Henson. In real life, the three women were a huge part of getting the first Americans in space. These women were genius and we could not have done it without them. And being black in the 60, it’s an amazing story (PG) – (2 Hours) – (3 ½ Stars). Now, Underworld/Blood Wars. This was a weak franchise from the get go, but here we go again. Cult followers will see it, but be aware it is, cheesy, disjointed, bad script and bad acting as well (Rated R) – (91 Minutes) – (0 Stars).
