Movie Reviews: You’ll have to look for it but opening today is the documentary, I’m Not Your Negro, narrated by Samuel L. Jackson. The last essay by civil right’s atavist James Baldwin (4 Stars). … Next is The Comedian, starring Robert De Niro, Danny DeVito, and Edie Falco. De Niro plays a chip on his shoulder, sad-sack comic who has community service to do and the only place to live is at his brother’s house, if it sounds good it isn’t. Rude, crude, and not funny at all. De Niro is actually the best thing in this but if it’s not on the page it shouldn’t be on the stage. Two hours, exactly 119 mins too long (Rated R) – (1 Star). … Here’s the great news, Oscar films that are out, Hacksaw Ridge, Fences, Lion, Hidden Numbers, Jackie, Hell or High Water, Manchester By the Sea, Sully and La La Land. Great movies you should see a couple this weekend.
