Personal Good-by, before I started this feature, 20 years ago and before doing mornings at KROQ, I was the West Coast Sports/Entertainment correspondence for the New York Post. I saw Ali fight 6 times, spent months with him in Vegas while training. When the cameras were off he was a giving gentle giant. And dinner with him was a treat! Of the hundreds of people I’ve met/interviewed, Ali is in the Top 5 with Neil Armstrong, John Wayne, Ronald Reagan and Billy Graham. Not making the Top 5 list includes people like Nixon, Tiger Woods, Bob Hope, Jack Nicholson, Kirk Douglas, you can guess where the likes Kim Kartrashian’s fit in. He was the greatest, and, I am fortunate to have known him, may he rest in peace. Unfortunately, I predict an ugly family fight over his estate.
All week long, I’ll be reviewing some new Summer TV shows, today, ABC’s Sunday Game Show Night, with the new Match Game hosted by Alec Baldwin, The Pyramid hosted by Michael Strahan. And, while celebrities show up on these shows from time to time, the trifecta is Celebrity Family Feud hosted by Steve Harvey will be all about stars. Airs June 26 on ABC (3 ½ Stars).
