Pop Quiz: Name the celebrity who’s best friend is Jamie Foxx, buys a lot of used vintage cloths, his dad got him hooked on drugs when he was 12 and married his first wife after 42 days, is it Nick Cage, Willie Nelson or Robert Downey Jr.?
I’ve have never done a whole report on one subject, but today, it’s all about Mr. Rogers. First the movie review for A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. My all time favorite movie was Forrest Gump, but this is my new favorite, by far. This is the true story about a cold, sarcastic, even bitter journalist who was assigned to write a feature on Mr. Rogers for Esquire Magazine. He went in believing nobody could be as kind and loving as Mr. Roger’s appeared on TV, well, he was wrong. Mr. Rogers was actually even kinder when he was off TV, and out in public. Amazing… Everything about Mr. Rogers is beautiful from his wife to just meeting folks on the street. Heartwarming, well acted, true to a tree, and a must see movie by all! (Rated PG) – (108 Minutes) – (4 Stars).
Now stuff you didn’t know about Mr. Rogers. He was an Ordained Presbyterian minister. He was the Grand Marshal of the Rose Parade in 2003 and died the next month. His famed Red Sweater can be seen in the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. During Halloween Fred and his wife always gave Sugar-Free candy to trick or treaters. He played 5 instruments and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Composition. Contrary to belief, Mr. Rogers was never in the U.S. Military, was not a war hero. He did meet every New Years day for breakfast, when possible with his friend, Captain Kangaroo, AKA, Captain Kangaroo. They would discuss the New Year, and what they could do to help children.
And finally Rotten Tomatoes got it right, ever single critic loved it except some clown named Don Kayne who calls himself, Don the Geek. Enough said.
Answer – Robert Downey Jr.
