Okay, The Oscar nominations were announced on Monday and here’s the latest scoop, I’m going to rank the 8 Best Picture nominations and where you can see each one.
But first, how different will the Oscars be? Well, they will originate from two locations, The Dolby and the Los Angeles Union Station. There will be no Host. Nominees will be allowed only one guest. No others allowed, that includes family members, managers, publicists, producers, agents, actors, even board members or media.
Now here are the eight Best Picture nominations, my suggestions which you should see first and where you can see them. Please note, all are great movies. #1 Nomadland – Streaming on Hulu, #2 Trial of The Chicago 7 – Streaming on Netflix, #3 The Father – Currently showing in theaters, but streaming March 26th on Amazon, #4 Promising Young Woman – On Amazon, #5 Judas and the Black Messiah – On HBO MAX, #6 Sound of Metal – On Amazon, #7 Mank – On Netflix and #8 Minari – On Amazon.
And here’s an odd one. I loved the film, Hillbilly Elegy, however, it’s the first movie to have a nomination for best actress, Glenn Close, but it’s also nominated for a Razzie, the worst film movie of the year. But checkout Hillbilly Elegy on Netflix.
It’s St. Patrick’s Day and for those who have been listening for years, I always mention my dear grandmother Neena, who would have been 127 years old today. And my memory of the last time I saw her. I picked her up at the home and took her out for her 95th birthday. When I asked her where she wanted to go she said, “Mike, I don’t care as long as the have hot chili and cold beer!” We went to TGIF. On the way home, Neena sheepishly looked at me and said, “Mike, I think I’m starting to leak.” She died peacefully two weeks later. Rest in peace.
