Report for Wednesday, Apr 5th

Today’s report originates from Newport Beach, California. And while Friday is usually movie review day, with the film Air dropping nation wide today, here we go.

On October 26, 1984 Michael Jordan played his first NBA game, it was against the Washington Bullets and he scored 14 points had 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 blocks, the beginning of history. But far away from the basketball court, executives at a fledgling Nike company basketball division were failing miserably and trying to figure out how to save the company. Enter a Sonny Vaccaro, played by Matt Damon, a hotshot sales weasel with a huge idea how to turn things around. Base the entire future of the shoe division on a NBA rookie. First he has to sell the Nike boss, Phil Knight played by Ben Affleck on the idea, and then he has to sell the idea to Michael Jordan’s brains and trust, his mother. Next comes the shoe design, how to sell it and what to call it! Affleck also directs and the cast, including Affleck, Matt Damon, Jason Bateman, Chris Tucker and Chris Messina are all fabulous, but to be honest, Viola Davis who play’s Michael’s mother steals every scene she’s in. I love true stories, I love sports and I love this movie! This is one 3-pointer after another. Great acting, great script and often hilarious. And the fact it’s all true and changed sports shoe sales forever, It’s just the best of the best folks. (Rated R) – (1 Hour 52 Minutes) – (4 Stars) sports fan or not this is a must see.

Movie News: The plot for Captain America: New World Order is being kept a big secret, however I have some scoopage. 15 years ago, Liv Tyler made her acting debut in the Incredible Hulk and Liv is back in this new Captain America flick as the daughter of General Thaddeus Ross who was previously played by William Hurt before his passing, and will now be played by Harrison Ford.  Filming started last week in Atlanta, Georgia. … Surprise, hearing great things about a Nicolas Cage movie, Sympathy for the Devil, a horror mystery movie in theaters only this July 28th.
