40 years ago I met Dick Clark at his house at 5 A.M. His wife Kari made us breakfast and I was by his side till 2 A.M., covering American Music Awards for the N.Y. Post and did it again the next year for his People’s Choice Awards. And once and for all, both shows are a con, a sham and a joke. For the last time, there is no voting, zero, zip. You only get to win if you agree to appear on TV when being planned. The whole thing makes me want to stink especially the promos saying vote for your favorite if you want them to win. Bull shoy!
Odds and Ends: Publicist call the best parents in Hollywood, a couple that aren’t even married, Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn with their blended family. Kurt’s son Boston is the product of his marriage with actress Season Hubley. Boston is a successful lawyer. Goldie had a son Oliver Hudson with comedian Bill Hudson. Oliver is a popular actor. And of course, Goldie had a daughter with Bill, the talented and beautiful, Kate Hudson. Kurt and Goldie had a son together, Wyatt, was a pro hockey player and now an actor. This blended family talks or sees each other everyday, have all holidays together and often Sunday meals. They say, they’re just a regular family and everybody gets along.
Movie News: To get ready for his next Sherlock Holmes film, Robert Downey Jr. has read over 100 books about Holmes. Downey believes in method acting and research. … Then you have Mel Gibson who’s been calling the media trying to get interviews and brag about his film, FatMan, which has to be one of the worst movies of the year. … Good movie news, I’ve been telling you about Glenn Close and Amy Adams in their film, Hillbilly Elegy, well it drops on Netflix today. Tomatoes hated it, I loved it.
And a very different series making a comeback is Animaniacs. An animated series with the lovable Yakko, Wacko, Dot, Pinky and Brian. A great show for the entire family. Available on HBO Max and Hulu.
