Movie News: When I first saw, Power of the Dog, almost a year ago, I said it would dominate come award season. It has now won best picture from Golden Globes, the American Film Festival, England’s Oscar a.k.a. BAFTA, London, Chicago, Austin and Boston film festivals. It will win the Oscar. You can see it now on Netflix. And another prediction, Attica, the film about the New York penitentiary that was rocked by riots in the 70’s will win the best documentary! It tells an unbelievable story of racism, hate, cruelty and inhuman conditions, that are hard to believe actually happened in the country. Must see, on Hulu and Amazon and on demand. … We know, The Batman, is great but just as great is Colin Farrell as the Penguin, and Colin is getting his own mini-series TV Show as the Penguin on HBO Max.
Odds and Ends: Cheryl and I donated to Red Cross to help get Ukrainians food and shelter and by the way, 90% of the money donated to Red Cross makes it to those it’s for. Not true with some other charities, only 4% of money given to UNICEF makes it to the kids. … Just for the record, Tom Hanks and Henry Winkler’s dislike for each other has not waned. The two had a creative disagreement when shooting Turner and Hooch 30 years ago and it got more heated when Hanks questioned Winkler’s acting ability.
