From a Hot Palm Springs, I want to give you a head’s up on three movies that will be must sees!
Starting off, Kinds of Kindness is one of the most unusual films of the year. It is a comedy/drama that is produced and edited by the same guys who gave us Poor Things that starred Emma Stone and she stars in this classic as well. As does Jessie Plemons who won the Best Actor in Kinds of Kindness at the Cannes. This is three very different stories in one! First about a man who tries to break free of what he sees as his predetermined path of life! Second, there’s a cop who questions his wife’s attitude and demeanor after her amazing return from death and her supposed drowning. And finally a confused woman searches for a spiritual guide to tell her how to run her life. I know it sounds weird but it’s great! Limited release June 21st, opens everywhere a couple weeks later.
Next is Young Woman and the Sea. This is a Jerry Bruckheimer production that did a touch and go on the Disney+, however it’s about to drop at a theater near you. This is a true story set in 1920’s about a young swimmer who won Gold in the Olympics who first gained recognition when she swam the dangerous 22 miles from Battery Park, New York to Sandy Hook, New .Jersey and set a record that stood for 81 years. Her name Trudy Ederle. Playing limited screens, opens wide July 4th.
One more movie heads up. Green lighted a couple years ago, but will finally starts shooting this summer, another true story, The Man With The Miraculous Hands. The movie of Dr. Felix Kersten who was the #1 physician for the Nazi party, and also Himmler and Hitler’s personal doctor! But secretly he worked to save thousands of Jews from concentration camps! And Woody Harrelson will play Dr. Kersten. Release 2026.
