Report for Tuesday, Jan 26th

TV Stuff: Starting off with a new TV mini-series on Hulu you should avoid like the Covid. The Sister. A supernatural story of sisters, one dead, one alive. This series should join the dead sister along with the horrible writing, directing and acting. (1 Star.)

Now a series that started in 2016 and is as good as The Sister is bad. It is, Designated Survivor on demand and on most platforms. As most people know, when the State of the Union speech is given, the President, V.P., all congress, Chiefs of Staff, the Supreme Court, every part of the government is in the chamber, except one person. Always a member of the cabinet who is miles away in a secure place as the designated survivor should the chamber blow up and all in government killed. Kiefer Sutherland is the Secretary of Housing and Development and is the designated survivor after everybody get killed and he becomes president. This is a great series, binge worthy (4 Stars.)

More TV: First Ladies is a new Showtime mini-series that looks at First Ladies and how they have changed history. Shooting just started and already cast to star, Viola Davis as Michelle Obama, Michelle Pfeiffer as Betty Ford and rumors that producers would like Jessica Biel to play Jackie Kennedy and Kathy Bates as Eleanor Roosevelt. Stay tuned.

Returning to TV, America’s Most Wanted. I was shocked when John Walsh was very un-ceremoniously fired and Fox dropped the very popular show. Now I am thrilled it’s coming back with a new host, Elizabeth Vargas. Sponsors are already signing up. … Not returning to TV, NBC Sports Network. No surprise, all sports ratings are down. … Okay, may be back as an on going segment on SNL called Trump On Vacation. While Lorne Michaels wants to do it, Alex Baldwin’s not committing. We’ll have to see.

And most likely gone, Ellen. She has 11 months left on her TV contract but ratings keep going down. Kelly Clarkson has been discussed as her replacement.

And TV has been very good to Steve Harvey who’s worth is $205 million. Other TV show hosts worth, Pat Sajak is worth $65 million, and before Alex Trebek died he was worth $75 million.
