I love telling you the gossip in Hollywood, but every once and a while I have to tell you about the Showbiz business of Hollywood, and today is the day.
90% of the actors you see in movies and TV are getting paid 50% less than they were for the same gigs 10 years ago. It use to be that a struggling actor getting an occasional one or two lines in a movie or TV show and a lot of extra work, would struggle but make a living. … Late Friday, very quietly, Warner Bros. stocks dropped dramatically, as did their earnings. An hour later Paramount Studios credit rating took a hit. Their earnings down too. … Tyler Perry’s movies and TV shows have been doing great but with movie audiences down and sponsors on television pulling back. Tyler has cancelled his studio expansion.
Okay, enough bad news, here’s some good news. So The Office had a great 9 season run on NBC. Then it had a great run streaming on Netflix, and now it’s on Paramount+ and drawing huge ratings. … And Paramount+ has formally given the Frazier reboot a second season. To be honest, I thought the first season reboot was bad, but apparently there is an audience! And no surprise HBO has renewed True Detective, that is a great show! … But I saved the best for last. Kevin Costner left Yellowstone to make his dream. A four part, four full features called Horizon: An American Saga. A true look at America after the Civil War. Part one is 2 hours 22 minutes and will be in theaters June 28th. The second part is due for release August 28th. The final two parts not till next year. Over 50 stars in the series.
