TV News: One of my favorite programs, Real Sports with Bryant Gumble is coming to an end at the end of this, his 29th season. When I was a very young sportscaster in Los Angeles I applied for the weekend sports anchor gig at KNBC. The News director was Phil Boyer. I was told the gig came down between me and another young local guy, Bryant Gumble, and Gumble got the gig. Bryant and I seldom talked but while he played shortstop on the L.A. Media baseball team, I played second base. We played a game every year before a Dodger game. If you go to my website homepage, I have posted a picture of Bryant and I before a L.A. Media game played at Dodger Stadium. I seldom agreed with Bryant, but a great talent and a great golfer. I wish him well in retirement.
Movie News: I am hearing great things about the fantasy/drama movie, Tuesday! It’s about a teenage girl who has a terminal disease and is dying, but coping with the inevitable. However her mother can’t except it and is losing her mind. The interesting thing, the mother is played by Julia Louis Dreyfuss in her first dramatic role. Details on the national release date and where streaming are sketchy. Can’t wait for it. … More hearsay movie scoop, Taylor Swift had every minute of every concert filmed, from her going to the concert to autograph post parties, everything was filmed! And this movie will be huge! Again, can’t wait!
Odds and Ends: Almost every star lives in L.A. or at least have a home in L.A. and almost every one of their homes cost well over a million dollars, but not all of them. These five celebrities have homes just under a million or just barely a million dollars, Dakota Fanning, Daniel Radcliffe, Anne Hathaway, Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire. … Cher says she wont cut her hair or stop wearing jeans no matter how long she lives. Well, nothing more hotter than a 76 year old woman with long hair and tight jeans.
