Report for Monday, Nov 30th

Show Biz Business: Bitter, party of one, make that party of two. Over the weekend, both Justin Bieber and The Weekend said they would not cooperate or vote anymore for the Grammy, both claiming politics and monkey business they didn’t get nominated. … If you depend on Film Twitter or Rotten Tomatoes for movie reviews, have a care, better yet just don’t depend on them at all. Not that I’m any better although I think I am, their latest debacle is Hillbilly Elegy. Tomatoes gave a 28 of 100, I gave it a 3 ½ stars. Over the weekend I received 42 emails from listeners who loved it. My wife Cheryl saw it Saturday when I was golfing, called it one of the best films of the year, and a member of the academy predicts the film could get 5 Oscar nominations. Again, Tomatoes a 28! … More Oscar buzz that Meryl Streep will get nominated twice. First for, The Prom, where she plays a High School teacher and, Let Them All Talk, where she plays a famous author. … I have described Drew Barrymore and her TV Show as really reaching and trying anything to get ratings, but Drew getting a mail-in minister license to marry a former student to her High School teacher is not just reaching. It’s embarrassing, shameful and disgusting.

Sports Shorts: The NBA starts their pre-season tonight. Question, who cares? … I’m ashamed to admit, I actually bought the Mike Tyson-Roy Jones PPV Saturday and what a waste of $50. What’s that old saying, a sucker born every minute. … On a much brighter note, Sarah Fuller became the first woman to play in a Power 5, NCAA football game, she was the kicker for Vanderbilt against Missouri. I would have been watching anyway, extra special for me, my son got his masters at Missouri and my daughter got her masters at Vanderbilt. Oh, me, I’m a high school dropout.

Very odd, while playing golf I saw a buck deer run across the fairway with a golf club stuck in between his antlers. How it got there, I have no idea. Weirdest thing ever seen.
