Report for Monday, May 13th

Please bare with me, a personal comment. I have been covering Hollywood for literally decades and of all people I have met, by far, the nicest, most honest, kindest person was Sam Rubin, the Hollywood reporter with KTLA-TV Los Angeles! He also hosted the Red Carpet and telecasts at the Oscars! Sam died last Friday of a Heart Attack, at the young age of 64. A great husband, father, reporter and friend. Everybody loved Sam!

TV Ratings and Box Office News: Top 5 most watched TV shows last week, #5 Young Sheldon, #4, ABC News with David Muir #3, Tracker, #2 Kentucky Derby Post Race, #1 Kentucky Derby. … Box Office news, as predicted on Friday, the #1 movie, Kingdom of the Planet of The Apes, mauled the competition and was #1! And while my favorite movie, Escape from Germany, came in at #14 please note, Kingdom of the Apes was on 4,025 screens, while my favorite, Escape From Germany, was on 112 screens!

Over 200 people from Boston, New York and D.C. flew from east coast to Paris, France last week to see Taylor Swift in concert. Reason, a great seat to a Taylor Swift concert in the U.S. via scalpers costs $5,000-$8,000. The same kind of great seat to see Taylor in Paris cost about $1000. And the average round trip ticket from Boston, New York or D.C. to Paris cost about $1,000. Add another $1000 for one night hotel, cab and dinner, do the math. Pay $6,000-$7,000 see her in the U.S. or $3000 to see her in Paris! And you get to see the Eiffel Tower.

Hey I’m just the messenger but of the 35 Broadway plays currently playing, Suffs, which has an all female and binary cast and has been heavily publicized for weeks by it’s producer, Hillary Clinton. Suffs got snuffed, came in dead last place in attendance.
