Starting with an Anti-Love Nugget: Scoop is the divorce will be filed today between Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez. And it’s now come to the old family saying, have your people call my people.
Weekend Box Office and a related sidebar: Deadpool and Wolverine had the biggest opening weekend in history of an R rated movie. 8th biggest over all with a domestic $210 million, $438 million global. And before yesterday’s San Diego Comic-con closed where 135,000 attended the eight day event, there was a surprise appearance of a man on stage with a mask on and a gasp when he took it off, turned out to be Robert Downey Jr. who announced he was returning to the Marvel blockbuster franchise, Avengers and will play Dr. Doom. Which no doubt to be another record setting box office smash.
To the Olympics: I thought the Opening Ceremony was over the top, often boring, some parts in very poor taste, some parts just goofy. By the way, the TV ratings were up slightly from the Tokyo games. However, consider this, the San Francisco 49ers versus Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl had four times more viewers, 29 million compared to 118 million viewers. I can say no more! Actually I have a lot more to say. With hotel, restaurants and everything else doubling their prices, attendance for the games are way down. Not to mention, some athletes are complaining the village rooms stink, dirty, no air conditioning and oh yes bugs. And since the Olympics are all about sportsmanship and the honor of your country, how about Beverly Priestman, Canada’s women soccer coach, thrown out of the games and Paris for hiring a drone to fly over and spy on New Zealand’s women soccer team practice? To be honest, I’ll watch some of the events but think these game will be a bust!
Tomorrow: Kevin Spacey and Rod Stewart scoopage, plus more!
