Really happy news and really sad news to start the week. The really happy new is the Jamie Foxx is definitely on the mend and could be back to work next month. Still no word what his medical emergency was, but a stroke still to be the culprit. The really sad sad news the passing of Tony Bennett, one of the truly nice guys, and logging in 96 years, he used all the runway and his music will last forever.
Quick Love Nugget: One of Hollywood’s happiest couples is Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone, married 18 years two children and have multiple charity projects. Sidebar, Ben and Melissa have been present every day on the picket lines and despite excepting the LBGTQ Festival award for all their support, they decided not to appear in person because of the SAG Strike. They talk the talk and walk the walk, good for them.
Another Strike related Nugget: The Screen Actors Guild has to sign-off before studios can promote movies, SAG has now denied studios from doing that while on strike.
Okay the big movie news, Barbie made $150 million over the weekend and as I predicted, lapped Oppenheimer who did $80 million. Thousands of patrons showed up at theaters wearing Pink and Barbie outfits. And for the record the breakdowns were 65% of the people who saw Barbie were women, 35% were men, 40% were under 25, 60% were over 25 and a whopping 6% were over 50 years old.
Odds and End: So we don’t know who won the $1 billion Power Ball last week, but interesting, it was sold at the La Palmitas mini-mart, in the 500 block of 5th Street right in the middle of Los Angeles’s Skid Row. Most of their clientele are homeless. … Keanu Reeves is taking the time off during the strike to get back with his band, DogStar, and are doing some concert gigs and also putting together an album. And for the record, while his vocals may not be the greatest, he can handle the bass with some great runs.
