Report for Monday, Jan 2nd

So sad, the passing of Barbara Walters. She was one of the greatest journalist of the 20th century! A lot of people will remember her for her occasional bizarre questions like when she asked Katharine Hepburn, “If you were a tree, what kind or tree would you be.” She interviewed about every world leader of her time and every celebrity. By the way, Hepburn said she would be an Oak Tree. Sidebar, Paul McCartney’s wife is Baba’s cousin. And some others who passed in 2022, Sidney Poitier, Olivia Newton-John, Meat Loaf, Ray Liotta, Kirstie Alley, Louie Anderson, James Caan, Naomi Judd and the two nicest people I’ve ever met in this business, Los Angeles Dodger’s Vin Scully and Tony Dow.

On a happier note and shop talk, radio station KQCH in Omaha decided to make their Christmas promotion, asking listeners to donate diapers to the many needy family who needs them, and hundred of thousand diaper were donated. A huge success!

Movie News: As predicted here when the Christmas box office flopped, it was the bad weather that keep people away. Since then, box office has exploded, especially Avatar. Thought it’s interesting, directors all agree that the biggest divas are male actors. … And a head’s up, on Friday will review Tom Hanks new movie, A Man Called Otto.

Odds and Ends: Some old business, kudos to Ariana Grande. It was 2017 when a suicide bomber killed 22 people and injured hundreds at her Manchester, England concert and again this year, Grande has sent hundreds and hundreds of gifts to children’s Hospitals in Manchester. She does it every Christmas and on the date of the bombing. Good for her! … Dog the Bounty goes to court this week to stop his nephew’s tell all book from coming out and spilling some beans. Dog says the nephew signed an iron clad Non Disclosure Agreement. Apparently there are a lot of things the Dog doesn’t want made public.

And finally, I’d rather have painful rectal itch and root canal than watch that phony, goofy, over the top Ryan Seacrest on another New Years Eve celebration. Hideous!
