Box Office Dissected: Civil War came in #1 with $10.5 million, but showing on 4,000 screens. #2 Godzilla x Kong did a close $9.9 million BA, but on 3,700 screens. That brings us to #3 and #4, which happens to be the two movies I reviewed Friday, gave each 4 stars! Coming in 3# Abigail with $9.6 million but only on 3400 on screens. The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare was #4 with $9.2 million but only on 2800 screens. For my money folks, #3 and #4 are better than #1 and #2, just keep that in mind come next weekend.
TV News: I warned you that Tracker on CBS was really good sometimes and really corny other times, real hit and miss. And here’s another warning, also on CBS, Elsbeth. This is a cheap, poorly written, poorly acted, Colombo ripoff. But without any imagination. And believe me, Carrie Preston is no Peter Falk! The first show was cute, interesting, but the outcome and getting there very predictable. The rest of the first season even more predictable, all the same. You could read the entire plot in the first five minutes into each show. Here’s the most amazing thing, the show got picked up for a second season, which was a lot bigger surprise than any of the shows. … I’ve always thought Jennifer Aniston was a hottie, so why did she have work done? Looks like cheek implants, maybe a nose bob. I liked her natural beauty!
Personal Comment: The first sports athlete I interviewed when I started in this business when I was 17, was the quarterback of the Los Angeles Rams, Roman Gabriel, the first and only Filipino quarterback to play in the NFL, a MVP and truly a great human being! Roman died over the weekend at the age of 84, may he rest in peace.
