Report for Friday, Sept 28th

This week’s Pop Quiz theme, dog lovers. Who’s todays dog lover, Vanilla Ice, Guns and Roses’ Slash, Lea Michele, or Kelly Osbourne?

Retraction: Yesterday my producer told me the first President not born at home was Reagan, but further with investigation it was actually Jimmy Carter.

It’s Movie Review Friday, starting with Night School with Kevin Hart. It has a few funny parts and if you like Kevin, you’ll like the film. I found the movie mediocre at best and at worst, predictable and corny. It’s about a bunch of misfits going to night school to get their GED. The best performance is delivered by their hard core teacher, played by Tiffany Haddish. Sorry, it’s just not very good. (PG-13) – (109 Minutes) – (1 ½  Stars)

Next, If you only see one movie this year, see The Old Man & the Gun. It is Robert Redford’s last movie and one of his best. True story of Forrest Tucker, a happy go lucky lifetime criminal, although not violent but who loves to rob banks and loves to escape from prisons which he does 16 times. In the 80’s he robs his last bank and while escaping uses the ruse of helping a broken down motorist played by Sissy Spacek. The two end up building a relationship. Between his flashbacks, their relationship, and the never give up detective on Redford’s trail played by Casey Affleck. This is a great film. Danny Glover and Tom Waits also star. Limited release this week, but every where next week. (PG-13) – (100 Minutes) – (4 Stars).

Last but not least, an animated kids movie, Small Foot opens everywhere today. Cute, Take the whole family (PG) – (98 Minutes) – (3 Stars).

Everyday this week, quick history lesson. 100 years ago today, the maximum speed limit was 10 MPH.

Answer – Slash has a snake, Lea Michelle has a cat, Vanilla Ice has a Wallaroo. However,  Kelly Osbourne has a Pitt Bull named Noodles!
