Movie Review Friday, but first this exclusive. Gabby’s boyfriend’s parents are being investigated for interfering in an investigation, lying to police, conspiracy, aiding and abetting, and could face jail time. You heard it here first.
Okay, now to the movies. We start with Dear Evan Hansen. While it stars Tony, Grammy and Emmy award winner Ben Platt, there’s little chance of an Oscar. I mean he’s good and so are his co-stars, Amy Adams and Julianne Moore. However, what worked on Broadway five years ago doesn’t fly on the big screen. I never saw the Broadway version, but doubt I would have liked that either. It seems very artificial, over played and while it’s suppose to a serious drama musical, to me it’s phony and comical (Rated PG-13) – (2 Hours 17 Minutes) – (1 ½ Stars). … Also playing and worth seeing Cop Shop, Cry Macho, Candyman, and a great little documentary called, Show Me The Father, a faith based film about five fathers and families. Love this movie (3 ½ Stars).
Movie News: Coming next week, The Many Saints of Newark, the Soprano’s prequel, and I’ll have that review next week. However there are already plans for two sequels to the prequel! It’ll be huge and I can’t wait till it’s release. Again, it opens next Friday. … Daniel Craig opened a big can of worms when he said he doesn’t think 007 should ever be a woman. He’s getting blowback from everybody, but he’s not backing down.
TV News: You’ve probably heard Kim Kardashian is going to host an upcoming Saturday Night Live, but you haven’t heard this, Lorne Michaels has very quietly asked Britney Spears to host a SNL early next year and she’ll do it if the conservatorship is settled. And a Britney sidebar. Friends of Britney swear at 39, Britney wants another baby, and while there is talk she’ll get married next summer, don’t be shocked if she gets pregnant before then.
Odds and Ends: 4 year old Deveraux Octavian Basil Jagger will appear on stage at some of dad’s Rolling Stones concerts, doing dances, just being cute and he looks just like dad.
