Report for Friday, Sept 17th

Movie Review Friday: And we start with, Cry Macho. Directing and staring is 91 year old Clint Eastwood. Clint is a little slower, more deliberate, but as solid as ever as a washed up rodeo star with a unique relationship with his boss played by Dwight Yoakam. Yoakam hires Clint to rescue his teenage son whose down in Mexico. Clint will have to sneak in, fight a carte and fight the kid to get er’ done. Not a blow em’ up/shoot em’ up, it’s a calm but determined Clit Eastwood with several subplots throughout the movie that make this movie really good. Rotten Tomatoes only gives it a 60% but not me (Rated PG13) – (Under 2 Hours) – (3 Stars). … Copshop opens today, a fabulous, different, funny, thrilling movie. When a con artist rips off a dangerous gang they put out a contract on him and they want him dead now. Where’s the safest place to hide? A small town jail, and one assassin tracks tracks him down to that jail and that jail becomes ground zero. Great writing, great acting and full of surprises (Rated R) – (Under 2 Hours) – (3 1/2 Stars).

TV News: As predicted here months ago, Ken Jennings is the new full time host of Jeopardy. … Cops is coming back. It will return this fall on the Fox network.

Odds and Ends: In case you missed it, 20 years ago there was a charity concert after 9/11 called Robin Hood to help those in need. Robin Hood is coming back, organized by, of all people, the Jonas brothers. The show will include performances from Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Alicia Keys, Taylor Swift and others. Wanna go? It’s at the Java Center in New York on October 20th but you might wanna save up your money, tickets are $5,000. … And I’m very sad to report that the fall that Elton John had a month ago that caused him to cancel his Yellow Brick Road tour is more serious than reported. The injury may require total hip replacement which is never good for people in their 70’s and for the record Elton John Is 74.
