Movie Review Friday and I have four movies, three great and a so-so.
The best of the best is The Many Saints of Newark. The return of Tony Soprano, Johnny Boy, Junior, Paulie Walnuts, Silvio and Pussy Bonpensiero, but as teenagers! This movie could make a star out of James Gandolfini’s son Michael who plays the young Tony Soprano (Rated R) – (2 Hours) – (3 ½ Stars).
Next, The Addams Family 2. They’re back! And as Wednesday and Pugsley get older, they’re upsetting their parents by skipping family dinners, hanging on their cell phones and spending way to much screen time-time, sound familuar? Well Gomez and Morticia have decided to take the family on a camping trip and that’s where we meet their long lost very odd cousin (Rated PG-13) – (94 Minutes) – (3 Stars).
Next, The Jesus Music. A documentary about the explosion of Christian music dating back to the 70’s and the Calvary Church in Costa Mesa where it all started. Some of the genre’s biggest stars like Michael W. Smith and Amy Grant make appearances. Love this movie. (No Rating) – (3 ½ Stars).
Finally, Venom – Let There Be Carnage starring Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams and Woody Harrelson. Not my cup of tea. (PG-13) – (96 Minutes) – (If you like this stuff, 3 Stars).
So this time next week the baseball play-offs will be set, but on Tuesday and Wednesday are the wild card games and one of the National League wild card teams will be either the Dodgers or Giants who have the unfortunate luck of being in the same division. The Giants and Dodgers have been by far the best record in baseball. The only two teams to win over 100 games, but it looks like the Giants will barely beat the Dodgers out by one or two games. So the Dodgers must beat the current hottest team in baseball, the other wild card team, St. Louis Cardinals in a one game play-off to advance.
Another Book Review: Will is the memoir of Will Smith and it will be an eye opener. From their open marriage to Scientology to philosophy of raising kids. Hold on folks.
