Movie Review Friday: First, the final episode of the 40 year old Halloween Franchise, it’s Halloween Kills. Jamie Lee Curtis is back and while I’ll never forget the lap dance she gave me, her latest movie is unfortunately not the best of the bunch. Also back, Michael Myers, mask and all. Jamie has a daughter and grand daughter who return back to Jamie’s childhood home, so now the kids get to enjoy the horror and Michael’s rage! (Rated R) – (105 Minutes) – (2 ½ Stars).
Next, Needle in a Timestack. Rotten Tomatoes didn’t like it and I didn’t hate it. It’s very creative and on that alone I recommend it. A happily married husband and wife, an unhappy ex-husband who manages to control time travel that causes havoc and heartbreak. Timelines are blurred and with a great cast including Leslie Odom Jr., Cynthia Erivo and Orlando Bloom makes this movie very worth seeing. (Rated R) – (2 Hours) – (2 ½ Stars).
And now, The Last Duel. Based on true events in 1399 during the 100 year war. I didn’t expect to like it, I loved it! Matt Damon, Ben Affleck star and the great Ridley Scott directs! In a day when love and hate was tempered by truth and tradition, this movie is bound to get some Oscar consideration. It’s rated R, but the biggest problem is that it’s 2 hours 39 minutes long! Still yet (3 ½ Stars).
Odds and Ends: I got to know Cher when I was seventeen. I was in the studio for I Got You Babe. I was in the garage with Sonny when he wrote some of their songs. While at her house one day I saved Cher’s dog, Quetzl’s life, and Cher promised to never forget. but despite all that she still refuses my calls. But I am 1000% on her side as Cher is suing Sonny’s widow, Mary Bono, one of the worst people I’ve ever met. Mary has been stealing Cher’s royalties from Sonny and Cher’s old songs. Mary Bono cheated on Sonny, conned her way to get Sonny’s Congressional seat, then remarried and cheated on next husband. Real jerk.
