It’s Movie Review Friday and we start with Gemini Man. Technically, it is magic but that’s where the magic ends, sorry. The story of Will Smith being an over the hill hitman doing battle with a younger clone of himself sounds interesting, but it’s not. Note, Will Smith couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a boat, he can’t buy a hit. However, it’s not just Will’s acting, it’s the slow pace, ridiculous dialog, and sometimes just boring. But just because of the high tech effects, (2 Stars). … With Halloween around the corner, Here comes the Addams Family, an animated film with the voices supplied by Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron and Bette Midler. It’s fun, but brainless! Kids under 12 will love it, but that’s it. (Rated PG) – (94 Minutes) – (2 Stars). … Remember, Joker (4 Stars), Judy (4 Stars), Downton Abbey (3 ½ Stars), and IT Chapter Two (3 Stars) are all playing, so there are a lot of good films to see out there.
Speaking of Halloween, the most popular costumes this year are expected to be Joker, IT Chapter Two characters, Stranger Things Kids, and male and female Mister Rogers.
TV trend to watch. Kimmel, Colbert, and Fallon’s ratings have all been trending down.
More nutty California laws. First, instead of Marijuana must be kept 1000 yards from schools, now parents who say their child needs pot for medical reasons, so their kids will be allowed to get high while in school. And don’t forget, cell phones can also be used in the class room, teachers be damned. Also in January, any managers of any restaurant giving customers plastic straws face up to one year in jail. And any hotel chain giving guests those two ounce free shampoos face a $1 million fine. All I can say is… far out dude!
