Before we get into movie reviews, Brad Pitt spoke out yesterday saying being married to Angelina Jolie were the worse years of his life and that he will never get married again. Called it hell on earth. Funny, that’s what Billy Bob Thornton said after his marriage to Angelina. And, there’s a story that Angelina is flat ass broke, and owes everybody.
Now to the Movies, Starting off with a movie I absolutely loved but it takes an appetite for the odd, weird, bizarre and unexpected to love this movie. It opens in limited release today, on about 275 screens, but you can see it on Netflix November 16. It’s The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. This is just a fabulous film, 6 mini stories set in the old west, and each one of them very, very different.(Rated R) – (132 Minutes) – 4 Stars)
Next, The Grinch. What can I say, I love everything about Christmas, however there is an old saying, If it’s not on the Page, It shouldn’t be on the Stage. The Script is very weak, no continuity even for a cartoon. But the graphics and animation save what could have been a total bust. (PG) – (86 Minutes) – (2 ½ Stars)
That brings us to Overlord. A shocking, action, war horror movie that isn’t what you would think it would be, no matter what you were thinking! Paratroopers parachute into France for D-Day and run into crazy, mad Nazi doctors who have turned POW’s into monsters. Well written, well-acted, and most of all this film is out of left field with surprises that shock you. Hold on. (Rated R) – (109 Minutes) – (3 Stars)
