Movie Review Friday: And the best is, The Last Vermeer. A true story set after W.W.2 about the millions of dollars of art stolen by the nazi’s and a dutch artist who is believed to be a behind the thefts. A great story with great acting and starring Guy Pearce. The movie also includes gestapo mysteries exposed, the thrills and problems with the ending of the war and there’s even sex and drugs. All true, one of the best of year (4 Stars).
Next, Vanguard, also in the theaters but it really should be released in the garbage. Jackie Chan wrote and stars in this total abortion. It makes no sense at all. A free for all, blow-em-up, shoot-um-up with no particular pattern or plot, just dumb (0 Stars).
But don’t forget the great documentary, Born To Be, also in theaters and is fabulous.
But I’ve saved the worst for last, available on demand at home which is great since you’ll be close to the bathroom if you need to vomit! I’d rather have painful rectal itch than watch Jiu Jitsu again. And just when you thought Nicolas Cage couldn’t embarrass himself more, he’s done it! A meteor hits earth with an extraterrestrial alien set to take over with Jiu Jitsu. He’s the warrior of death. It’s hard to explain how bad this is. Best I can do is (0 Stars).
Odds and Ends: A radio Station in Austin, the capitol of Texas, took a poll and asked listeners if the would vote for Matthew McConaughey for governor, 76% said yes. … There’s an old game show that is making a come back, Name That Tune. The original show in the 1960’s had celebrities try to be the first to guess the name of a song being played. Guest’s included the first Astronaut John Glenn, Kirk Douglas and Jack Nicholson. The host then was Bill Cullen. Jane Krakowski is the new host. … I want to share something I miss hearing that I use to hear every Friday night, but been a long time since I’ve heard it. I miss hearing, “Evans, table for 4, your table is ready.”
