Movie Review Friday: I’ve already told you how much I loved A Quiet Place Part 2, and the other big movie opening is Disney’s Cruella. A weird, off the wall live action film about fashion with some suspense, razzel dazzel but it’s also kind of goofy. Funny but not too funny, Ghoulish but not too ghoulish. Different and unique, but not compelling. Hard to describe, but more entertaining than not (2 Hours 14 Minutes) – (PG-13) – (2 ½ Stars).
Movie News: Charleze Theron is, by far, the best female celebrity surfer. Surfing the big waves at Jeffreys Beach in South Africa. Now she will star in a Netflix feature about the four best female surfers in the world who have to fight to compete in surf contests.
Odds and Ends: Joy Behar has bragged The Talk is the best show on television, period. Well somebody tell the Emmy folks, because The Talk took the pipe, 0 Nominations. … There are huge meetings schedule in Japan this weekend. With the latest outbreak of Covid in Japan and the fact that only 2%, yep only 2% of Japan citizens have been vaccinated. More and more people are saying the Olympics should be canceled. Stay tuned. … I sent my producer to Disneyland yesterday, with 35% open he reported the crowds were manageable but since a lot employees won’t come back to work, many of the rides were closed. If you wanted food you had to text the restaurant and then pick up. No ice cream. … Just for the record, Friends: The Reunion was excellent! … While more and more major league baseball teams are opening their stadium to full capacity, 30 of 32 NFL teams have also said they will allow full capacity. The only two that have not yet are the Denver Broncos and Indianapolis Colts.
