Movie Review Friday: We start with a true story film filled with despair, promise, laughter, suspense and tears of happiness. Do I have you attention? Dream Horse, is about a poor England town, a bartender and a store cashier brilliantly played by Toni Collette who gets a handful of citizens to donate a small amount of money every week to pay for a the breeding of a horse in the hopes that it could turn into a race horse, and you can guess what happens. Why can’t every movie be a great as this one? (Rated PG) – (111 Minutes) – (4 Stars).
From a great movie made in England about English folks to a movie made in Australia about Australians. The Dry is about a decade old murder of a family and a friend and federal agent who takes it upon himself to solve the mystery to find the truth. One of the best who done it’s or who didn’t do it’s you’ll ever see. It’s now streaming on Apple as well as in selected theaters. (Rated R) – (2 Hours) – (4 Stars).
Finally the movie, I Carry You with Me. This is in theaters only, about two gay men who fall in love and stay in love for years but circumstances keep them apart. Deep and complicated, and although I don’t like subtitles this is so good I recommend. (Rated R) – (1 Hour 51 Minutes) – (3 Stars).
