Report for Friday, June 7th

Movie Review Friday: And the #1 movie will be Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in the fourth franchise that started, are you ready, three decades ago, the latest edition called, Bad Boys: Ride or Die. There is a lot of bickering between the stars and surprise, this film has them being chased by the law. If you liked this franchise you will love this! If you are new to the franchise, not so much. However this been there, done that action, adventure, comedy, it should do solid box office. One thing for sure, this has to be a hit to jump start Will Smith’s career (Rated R) – (2 Hours) – (3 Stars). … The other movie opening today, The Watchers. It’s from M. Knight Shaymalan, who hasn’t had a good movie in 25 years when he had, The Six Sense. And if you like horror movies you might like The Watchers. I don’t particularly like that genre and I definitely didn’t like The Watchers (PG-13) – (100 Minutes) – (2 Stars).

Uh oh. Pre-sales projections for Horizon: American Saga Chapter One, the $110 Million, 3 hour Kevin Costner movie that drops June 28th will bring in only $16 million opening weekend. I still say 3 hours is a killer. … And F.Y.I. there’s going to be another, newer Hunger Games in 2026.  … And there’s going to be a Peaky Blinders movie and it will star Cillian Murphy and it will be exclusively on Netflix.

TV News: Coming back, a spin-series from the original Criminal Minds. … Also coming back, The Morning Show, The Voice and a Dexter prequel. … And Hacks gets a fourth season with Jean Smart. … And next year get ready for the production company Higher Ground to get very active in several TV series. The hook here, the brain trust of Higher Ground is Barrack and Michelle Obama.
