Report for Friday, July 9th

So I’m off to St. Louis today to visit my daughter Natalie, husband Eddie and two of my amazing grandkids Paige and Shane. Also planning a little golf with Eddie and then I’ll back live Monday.

New News: Now Britney Spears mom, her ex-husband, her ex-boyfriends, her sister, several uncles and aunts and a team of psychiatrist have sent word to the judge to please reconsider and free Britney from that horrendous conservatorship.

However it’s still Movie Review Friday and we start off with the much anticipated Black Widow. And while Scarlett Johansson is the big star, it’s the introduction of her possible eventual replacement, the hot, talented and darling Florence Pugh, and more on her later. While they are sisters in Spirit, it’s more about Black Widow’s past as well as her future. There’s love, a competition and a feud. Not the best Marvel comic film, but solid. The graphics and special effects are fabulous, but the story line is very shaky. While it’s PG-13 which is very good, it’s over 2 hours which is very bad (3 Stars). … A couple sidebars. Florence Pugh is 25 and a successful recording artist in England. And a pregnant Scarlet was a no show at the wrap party or premier. Morning sickness

Next, Space Jam: A New Legacy is a kids movie but this movie is so dumb and goofy, only a very, young child will enjoy it. So young, they won’t know who LeBron James is. Bad acting by James doesn’t help. This should have been better, but isn’t (1 ½ Stars).

Finally, Annette. Hold on folks. From Sparks the great rockers of the 80’s, this story is about a comedian played by Adam Driver and his wife, a world renowned soprano. Annette is their yet unborn daughter which adds a very unique twist. This movie is a beautiful, intense, giddy, forbidding, creepy, unsettling, funny fantasy. Full of surprises from the couple being cheered to Adam’s character going to jail.  Loved it. (3 Stars)
