Report for Friday, Dec 10th

By now you know Jussie Smollett was found guilty on 5 of the 6 counts! There wasn’t a doubt in my mind of his guilt but I thought O.J. was guilty of murder! A despicable human being that was indignant and snarky during the trial. He falsified a hate crime! He could have caused a race riot! Thank God his story was so stupid nobody, including the jury, believed him.

Movie Review Friday: Amazing, of all the movies Steven Spielberg could re-make, he picked West Side Story, but I’m guess that’s what makes him a true Hollywood genius. West Side Story opens today and it is better than the original! A musical about two teenagers, Tony and Maria, who meet at a 1957 High School dance and fall in love at first sight, despite coming from two rival New York gangs, the Jets and the Sharks. And while you probably never heard of the two main stars, Ansel Elgort and Racial Zegler, you will in the future because they are fabulous. Even if you don’t like musicals, you’ll love this one. And Spielberg’s creative magic has never been more brilliant (2 ½ hours) – (4 Stars).

Also opening today, Being the Ricardos, which I loved. Ten days of the true life of, Lucy and Desi, the highs of I Love Lucy being #1 on TV, to the lows of his infidelity, to the devastation of learning the U.S. Senate is calling Lucy a communist. Again there are some critics that didn’t like it, and again, I don’t agree with them. This is set in the very different 1950s about two of the most famous people in America. And the great Aaron Sorkin wrote and directed this gem and captured all the emotion of it’s time! Nicole Kidman, Javier Bardem and J.K. Simmons star. Theaters now, streaming on Prime December 21st (4 Stars).

Movie News: Everybody is talking about, GOLDA, the story about Golda Meir, the Israeli Prime Minister during the world shaking Yom Kippur war in 1973. It stars Helen Mirren who plays Golda Meir and looks exactly like her with incredible make-up. Coming next year.

TV News: On September 14 I told you when all was said and done, there would be two permanent Jeopardy host, Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings. Yesterday they finally made it official. I like them both, Mayim a little more, but nobody’s better than Alex. … The People’s Choice Awards ratings sucked Wednesday, as it should, it’s a farce.
