Big news today, 75% of American Theaters are finally opening this weekend. Wear a mask, keep social distancing and let’s go to the movies. And being Friday, it’s Movie Review Day, why not start with a movie I give 4 stars and Rotten Tomatoes gives a pitiful 47%. The biggest egos in Hollywood are not actors, they are reviewers. The movie is Unhinged with Russell Crowe who takes road rage to another level that even I couldn’t imagine. If you’ve ever had a driver piss you off, you will love this film. Russell Crowe is fabulous Caren Pistorius is the rude driver and she get’s hers. (4 Stars).
Next is Words on Bathroom Walls. Surprise, I love it and so does Rotten Tomatoes. Charlie Plummer plays a high school senior with schizophrenia who’s attacks forces him to change schools where the attacks continue but he falls in love with fellow student Maya. Her understanding along with his recognizing his demons while trying to achieve his dream of becoming a chef, makes this a heartwarming and compelling film. (4 Stars).
Speaking of movies, what is the deal with the sudden interest in Pinocchio? Netflix is doing a animate musical version starring Cate Blanchett and Ewan McGregor. Meanwhile, the Imagine Studios with Ron Howard as director are in pre-production of their version of Pinocchio and while Tom Hanks tried to cockroach the lead from Robert Downey Jr., Brian Glazer and Ron Howard are sticking with my man Robert Downey.
