Movie Review Friday: And we start with DC’s Blue Beetle. A hamburger turns out to be an ancient thing called a scarab that attaches itself to our unwitting Super Hero. This is funnier than most DC comics and full of surprises. Very entertaining and great family fun! (PG-13) – (2 Hours) – (3 Stars). … Next is Strays. Will Smith and Jamie Foxx voice live dogs who live out on the streets of Atlanta, Georgia. This could have been a fun, light hearted, friendly film but instead it’s rude, crude and not funny. But the dogs are cute. (Rated R) – (93 Minutes) – (2 Stars).
Also opening today is Back on the Strip with Wesley Snipes and Tiffany Haddish, but I didn’t get a chance to see it. All I know it’s a low budget comedy so you’re on your own.
TV News: Don’t miss the Little League World Series on ESPN and ABC all weekend, always great TV. … And it took long enough but the mustard has finally come off the Bachelor Hot Dog. Last week the Bachelor lost 1.1 million viewers, from 3.2 million to 2 million. See ya!
Prediction: Hillary could do millions of dollars of damage to Southern California, oh, it’s not Hillary Clinton but Hurricane Hillary that is scheduled to hit SoCal sometime over the weekend. This is the first hurricane that might hit SoCal since 1935. Hope it misses and let you know Monday.
And sorry to hear the passing of Jerry Moss who was a big part of the success of people like the The Police, The Go-Go’s, Cat Stevens, Carole King, Sheryl Crow and many others. Jerry Moss and his best friend Herb Alpert started their own record label using their own initials. I’m sure you’ve heard of A&M Records.
