Report for Friday, Aug 13th

It’s Movie Review Friday and we start with Free Guy. A fly by the seat of your pants, funny film, full of adventure that feels so good it’ll satisfy every movie goers sweet spot! Ryan Reynolds is a shy bank teller who realizes he’s also a video game superhero! This film is very creative and Jodie Comer from Killing Eve and Joe Keery are fabulous. Ryan’s character wants to save the world but obviously he doesn’t know how to do it.  This film works at every level and you can take the family (PG-13) – (2 Hours) – (3 ½ Stars). … Also opening today, Respect, the biopic of Aretha Franklin with Jennifer Hudson, and again couldn’t disagree more with Rotten Tomatoes who called it clanky! No surprise, I loved it! And it’s amazing a woman as beautiful as Jennifer can look so different. It also stars Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans and Audra McDonald. However, it’s Jennifer who shines and deserves another Oscar nomination (PG-13) – (2 Hours 25 Minuets) – (4 Stars). … Also today, Don’t’ Breathe 2. A bloody, gruesome, ridiculous story about a blind man, a little girl and a lot of goofy stuff like jamming super glue in a man’s mouth, a horror movie that’s not scary, with a lot of bad acting (R) – (1 Hour 38 Minutes) – (1 Star). … And please don’t forget the documentary Boys State on Apple TV tomorrow (4 Stars).

Movie News: Everybody’s talking about Stu, the true story about a boxer turned Priest, currently shooting with Mark Wahlberg as Stu. Mark looks great as the boxer and after gaining 22 pounds he looks perfect as the older priest too. Release date Fourth of July! … Definitely the most talked about movie is Babylon which is also currently in production.  The inside story of Hollywood in the early 20’s when the silent movies gave way to the talkies. Once upon a time in Hollywood during the heydays when even then, sex, drugs and politics ran sin city. Everybody wanted in this movie and already in are Brad Pitt, Jean Smart, Margot Robbie, Tobey MaGuire and Eric Roberts. Release date is Christmas 2022.
