Two Movie Review: First, Jules, a great movie with a lot of surprises and starring Ben Kingsley who plays a quiet guy, living a quiet life alone in a small town when a UFO crashes into his backyard with a darling little spaceman. This is one of the most creative movies this year. The story is subtle despite the subject matter. The acting is strong but not overbearing. Makes you think and laugh. A sci-fi, comedy yet a deadpan drama as well (Rated PG-13) – (88 Minutes) – (3.5 Stars). … Next, The Last Voyage of the Demeter. It’s 1897 and Dracula is back. Could be more than one Dracula, perhaps a boatload of Draculas but I don’t want to be a spoiler. It appears the crew is doomed! (Rated R) – (2 Hours) – (2 Stars).
TV News: Want a new show to binge? Sundays it’s on Roku, AMC, Amazon and other platforms, Dark Winds, from the Leaphorn and Chee novels, about a bank robbery and murder on the Navajo reservation. Dark Winds, Sunday nights, second season (4 Stars). And write down the documentary, Little Richard: I Am Everything. Fabulous and guarantee some big surprises and a lot more. It’s on CNN on September 4th (4 Stars). … Master Chef been renewed for a 14th season. I also like Chopped on Food Network. … How about that idiot on Big Brother who just causally started throwing the N-word around! … And we have some new secure dates for some big award shows, Critics Choice Awards will be January 14th, the Emmys will be January 15th and the Golden Globes the second week in February. Now the big question, who the hell cares about award shows?
