TV News: For the record, for all the publicity for the SNL 50 Year Anniversary Special did for weeks and weeks before last Sunday night’s telecast on NBC, only 15.4 million people watched it. In comparison the Super Bowl a week earlier had 128.4 million viewers. That is amazing to me. … Last Christmas, Netflix aired two NFL games and they produced the biggest viewership in their history! And Netflix wants more NFL. While CBS and FOX have contracts with the NFL till 2033, the League can get out of those contracts in 2029. Scoopage, Netflix has told the NFL, they will pay whatever it takes to take over either one of those contracts in 2029. And mark my words, they will.
Music Notes: Just announced, the World Pride Music Festival will be held at RFK Stadium in Washington D.C. on June 6th and 7th. Headliners will be RuPaul, Jennifer Lopez and Paris Hilton. Really? Who cares? Who would go to that? I don’t get it. … Meanwhile, Paul Simon who was fabulous opening the SNL 50 Anniversary TV Show singing and playing Homeward Bound, stopped touring in 2018 saying he was losing his hearing! That was 2018! But yesterday Paul announced he was going to do a 20 city live tour called, A Quiet Celebration! The tour will start April 4th in New Orleans and ending August 3rd in Seattle. Word is several surgeries have repaired his hearing to the point he can hear enough again to hit the road. That’s great!
The Oscar’s will be held on March 2nd and the three movies that are the favorites at win Best Picture are Wicked, Conclave and A Complete Unknown. All even money!
