I was on the phone all day yesterday, and all 4 Souther California fires continue to burn out of control. Some celebrities have already lost their homes including Paris Hilton’s beautiful multi million dollar Malibu beachfront home. Others will lose their home as well. Celebrities living in the Pacific Palisades that have evacuated include Ben Affleck, Michael Keaton, Bradley Cooper, Reese Witherspoon, Tom Hanks, Jennifer Aniston and even Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. And celebrities who live in Malibu that have evacuated include Jack Nicholson, Miley Cyrus, Leonardo DiCaprio, Pink, Cher, Halle Barry, Charlize Theron, Courtney Cox and Brad Pitt. What a disaster!
Meanwhile the Screen Actors Guild were scheduled to announce the nominations for 2024 Awards at a L.A. press conference but due to the fire they came in a press release. The biggest surprise (too some) that Angelina Jolie was shunned, ignored and dissed when passed over and not nominated for her part in Netflix flick, Maria. Not surprised, nobody in the industry likes Jolie. However I was shocked that Denzel Washington was also not nominated for his role in Gladiator 2. And Nicole Kidman was surprised when she was passed over for best actress in Baby Girl. It should be pointed out that there are 150,000 members of the Screen Actors Guild, I’m a member, but only 2,500 actually get ballots. The most nominations went to Wicked with 5 followed by A Complete Unknown, the Bob Dylan biopic, my favorite move of the year with 4 nods. Surprise nominations included Pamala Anderson for Best Actress in Last Show Girl and Jamie Lee Curtis for best Supporting Actress in the same movie. Did I ever tell you about the lap dance I got from Jamie Lee? That’s a great story for another day. Screen Actors Guild Awards are Sunday Feb 23rd on Netflix, at the Shrine Auditorium!
