Biggest, weirdest, bizarre and sad story in Hollywood, was the death of Gene Hackman. Details are still sketchy but the fact that Gene and his wife were found dead in their home, in different rooms, their dog dead in a closet and all apparently dead for several days as their bodies were partially mummified! What the hell is that all about? It’ll be a weeks if not months before we know all the facts. However this is a real mystery! Couple things about Gene, he turned down the part of Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs. He also turned down playing Mike Brady in the old TV Show The Brady Bunch. But my favorite nugget, while a student at the famed Pasadena Playhouse Gene Hackman and fellow student were voted the least likely to make it as actors! I will keep you posted!
One movie opening today is not for the faint of heart, but I strongly recommend it! Last Breath is the true story set in 2012 about three deep sea divers who are repairing an oil rig 300 feet under water, naturally hooked up to lifelines with their mothership. These kind of repairs are made on a regular basis, really no big deal in the oil business. And while everything seems to be normal, suddenly everything is going wrong. In just a split second, one of the divers lifeline umbilical cord snaps! The story is the star of this, but the human star is Woody Harrelson (Rated PG-13) – (93 Minutes) – (3 Stars).
Programming Note: First week of April I’m headed to the Coachella Music Festival. I’ll be covering it, also play some golf in Palm Springs just a few miles from Coachella. Lady Gaga, Green Day, Post Malone, Travis Scott and others will headline the great show. But to be honest, I’m looking more forward to the golf.
