TV News – Big Brother starts tonight, and I hear this will be a great season. The new ABC singing competition show, Rising Star, did a horrible – 5.1 rating. Comparison, US/Portugal World Cup soccer game did a 18.2. US vs Germany game is on Thursday and should be huge but not prime time. Also, TBS will do a Tribute to Seinfeld – the best 25 episodes June 30 thru July 5th.
Movie report card – With half the year gone, here’s the biggest Box Office movies – #5 Godzilla (WB), #4 Amazing Spiderman 2 (S), #3 X-Men Days of Future Past (F), #2 Captain America (D), and #1 with 278 million domestic revenue is The Lego Movie (WB).
Movie News – The Judge, starring four Academy Award winners doesn’t open until October 10, but is already being called a guarantee multi-Oscar nominated film. Robert Downey Jr. plays a fast talking New York lawyer who’s mother dies and he returns to his small southern childhood hometown. He learns that his dad, a well respected Judge played by Robert De Niro, is charged with murder. Despite the hatred between the two men, Downey sets out to save his dad’s life. Billy Bob Thornton plays the prosecutor. This will be a huge film – The Judge.
