Report for Friday, Feb 21st

Something different today. Instead of the Pop Quiz dealing with celebrities and because politics is in the air in general and Michael Bloomberg in particular, who is the richest president of all times? Is it Donald Trump, Franklin Roosevelt, John Kennedy or well, Ronald Reagan?

Movie Review Friday: And the big picture this week will be, The Call of the Wild! It’s the story of a man and his dog assigned to deliver mail and find routes in the extreme Alaska winter, during the 1890’s Alaska God Rush. The movie is from Jack London’s great 1903 novel of the same name. This isn’t the first movie from this novel, the first was a silent film in 1923, made into a talkie in 1930 with Clark Gable and Loretta Young, and again in 1972 with Charlton Heston. In all those films they had real live dogs as a co-star. This new version stars Harrison Ford with a CGI computerized dog. While you love this computerized dog, cry for this computerized dog and laugh at this computer dog, but you never really forget it’s a computerized dog. However the scenery, the action, the story and Harrison Ford’s acting make this a great film. (PG) – (100 Minutes) – (3 ½ Stars).

TV News: Now on Amazon TV, Hunters, starring Al Pacino. Al is a current day Nazi hunter, out for vengeance and justice. Really well done, Pacino is great (4 Stars). … And thrilled NBC has picked up Blacklist with James Spader for an 8th season. One of my favorite shows and could be moving to Thursdays.

Pakalolo News: Far out dude, more proof that California is nuts. While marijuana is legal in California, marijuana stays in your system for 28 days. Last year 1,053 people applying for State jobs for warehouse workers, custodians and secretaries were denied jobs just because they had smoked pot within the 28 days. Again, it’s legal in California. And if you want the crip, the killer pot, dude you need to shop at where the most potent pot is grown, that would be on Whoopi Goldberg’s Pot Farm.

Answer – Not even close, Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
