Movie Review Friday: I told you about Dark Waters a couple weeks ago starring Mark Ruffalo, and it opens everywhere today, and it is fabulous. The true story of a chemical defense attorney (Ruffalo) who returns to his small home town to visit his grandmother. Turns out DuPont chemical has been poisoning the towns water for years, killing pets, livestock and even people, and he fights back. A must see. (3 Stars).
Next is Aeronauts, another true story set in 1862 about a balloonist played brilliantly by Felicity Jones who is going to fly higher than any human being and she is joined by a meteorologist who believes the world can learn about the weather by seeing it from above earth. The CGI effects are incredible. The adventure turns into a real life and death story. The acting is fabulous, thrilling and breath taking, edge of your seat stuff. Opening everywhere today, I love it. (3 Stars).
Opening today in limited release is a great movie, In Fabric. When an average lady, played by Marianne Jean-Baptiste goes shopping, she finds the perfect dress and buys it, and all is ah, not well. Hilariously funny and yet it’s disturbingly horrifying! Turns out the dress has a life of it’s own, the dress is evil. (Rated R) – (2 Hours) – (3 Stars).
Another movie you need to see is, The Farewell, the story of a Chinese family who come together when they learn their grandmother is dying. This was in limited release, is still out in some theaters and also on demand on some platforms. Look for it!
And don’t forget, still playing is Frozen 2, Knives Out, Queen & Slim, Ford v Ferrari, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. all of these films are great! So, take a break from Christmas shopping and go to a movie.
