It’s Movie Review Friday, I just don’t get Rotten Tomatoes, they didn’t like Joker and they don’t like Midway. I didn’t like Midway, I loved Midway! Midway was the D-Day of the Pacific and without the victory at Midway we lose the war folks. The perfect historic re-enactment with the use of CGI technology and incredible acting makes this one of my Top 10 movies of the year. Younger people won’t care about it, and older folks don’t go to the movies, so not sure how the Box Office will be. However, everybody should see this film and the inside story of our brave men who save America. Starring, Ed Skrein, Patrick Wilson, Luke Evans, Woody Harrelson and Mandy Moore. (Rated R) – (138 Minutes) – (4 Stars). I wasn’t alive when it happened but loved it.
Another 4 Stars for the best movie of the year, The Irishman which opens in limited release today and everywhere next week.
Next, After 40 years past, The Shinning, Doctor Sleep has plenty of suspense, horror, thrills and tension. It picks up where Jack Nicholson’s famous “Here’s Johnny!” left off. Jack’s son has grown up and is played by Ewan McGregor, and Rebecca Ferguson is the heartless Rose The Hat. The best performance is by the teenager, Kyliegh Curran who has a connection with Ewan’s character and their only choice is to return to that hotel. It’s a solid movie and very scary but sometimes trips over itself while telling the story. (Rated R) – (150 Minutes) – (3 Stars).
Now we have Last Christmas, and although I love Emma Thompson and I really love Christmas, this movie is just too corny. (PG-13) – (100 Minutes) – (2 Stars).
