Movie Review Friday: Starting with Crazy Rich Asians, playing everywhere. This is a unique film in that it’s the first wide American release all Asian cast. It’s the story of a New York couple who decide to get married and their trip to Singapore so she can meet his family. And she is shocked to learn her fiancé comes from one of China’s richest and snootiest families. And she learns Chinese, look at him as a cross between JFK Jr. and Brad Pitt. This is a great, romantic comedy that leans heavy off the wall humor. It also explores family chemistry and relationships we can all relate too, but on a smaller scale. (PG-13) – (2 Hours) – (3 ½ Stars).
Mile 22 is about a CIA secret group that carries out assignments that we’re never told about. Their mission in this movie is to get an operative out of danger and to the safety of Mile 22. Not a huge Wahlberg fan, but I loved this, Ronda Rousey, Terry Kinney and John Malkovich are great, I love the story line, the thrills, the dialog, the chases and split timing, a lot of really great things here. (Rated R) – (92 Minutes) – (3 Stars).
And then there is, Alpha. Set 2 million years ago, this is how human beings and dogs became best friends. Touching, heart warming, beautifully shot, and a film the whole family will love. (Rated PG-13) – (95 Minutes) – (3 ½ Stars).
