Answer – Martin Van Buren was from Old Kinderhook, N.Y. and because of his long name, he got tabbed with Old Kinderhook as a nickname, and then Old Kinderhook got shortened to OK. And and every time he did something good, headlines would scream, Great News on OK, so OK became synonymous with good. As Paul Harvey would say, “now you know the rest of the story.”
