This week’s Pop Quiz Theme is Oscars loser, in 2012, Daniel Day Lewis won Best actor for Lincoln. Name the loser who lost that year to him, who is named after the Doctor who delivered him, he has a very deformed pinky and sings at his Church twice a week. It’s Movie Review Friday and Thoroughbreds opens today. This movie is spooky and disturbing but hilarious. A dark comedy about 2 teenage girlfriends, reunited at the end of their High School careers. One an upper-class snooty girl. The other is a street hip, lower class punk with a take no prisoners, bad attitude. Their friendship turns very evil when the rich girl wants her dad killed and her friend says, no problem. (Rated R) – (90 Minutes) – (3 Stars)
Also opening today is, Gringo, another very dark comedy with a great cast with David O’Yellow and Charlize Theron, and the acting debut of Paris Jackson. About a new black market pot pill, that the mob wants to secretly make and distributed in Mexico. Their go to grunt is O’Yellow who heads to Mexico to get-er-done, but there is a double cross and it’s hilarious. A lot of action and laughs. (Rated R) – (110 Minutes) – (3 Stars)
Lastly, A Wrinkle in Time. I’m guessing this film is a lot like a good acid trip. Echos, follows, colors, lot’s of colors and things you could never imagine if you weren’t high! The movie visuals are incredable, and despite the storyline wondering, it’s still enjoyable and take the kids. Fun, fantasy and dreams. (Rated PG) – (96 Minutes) – (3 Stars)
