Movie Review – Opening today is Tammy. It’s written, produced and stars Melissa McCarthy and it’s directed by her husband, Ben Falcone. Melissa’s Tammy loses her job, car, husband and everything else and decides to hit the road but her only option is her floozy grandma, played by Susan Sarandon, and it’s off to Niagara Falls. It’s not a great film, just a 4th of July comedy. It’s cooler in the theater than it is outside so go see it. RATED PG-13 – 97 MINS – 2 STARS. Also opening today – The Roger Ebert Documentary, Life Itself and this film is FABULOUS – 4 STARS.
Odds and ends – Justin Bieber’s new best friend is Johnny Football – Johnny Manziel. For that reason, Johnny’s getting haters before he even throws his first pass. The three favorites to be the new hosts on The View are Jamie Lee Curtis, did I ever tell you about the time Jamie sat on my lap for 45 minutes? I will another time. Also being interviewed is Josh Groban and Bachelor host, Chris Harrison. Happy Birthday – Seinfeld! It debuted 25 years ago tomorrow. An odd tradition in Ocean Beach, near San Diego, is after fireworks tomorrow night hundreds of people will have a marshmallow fight on their main street, and I’ll be there throwing the first marshmallow.
