2 Movie Reviews and a book review – The first movie is, Railway Man. You know I love history, true stories and great acting and this movie is the triple threat – all 3! In 1942, British army officer, Eric Lomax, played by Colin Firth was captured by the Japanese, taken to a Labor Camp and tortured! Now, decades later, Lomax finds out his Japanese torturer is alive and he pays him a visit. Joining him on the adventure is his long girlfriend, played by Nicole Kidman. The pace is not slow but deliberate, the attention to detail is important, and the emotions run the gauntlet. ALL TRUE – RTD R – Under 2 HRS – 3 ½ STARS.
The other movie is Oculus, a horror/thriller about the murder of a Mom and Dad who was killed by their son – or did he? His sister, who was there when their parents were murdered, believes the deaths were caused by an evil supernatural antique mirror that’s been killing people for generations. No big stars, but will keep you on the edge of your seats. RTD R – Under 2 Hours – 3 STARS.
A RARE book review by Bob Greenfield, “Ain’t It Time We Said Goodbye: The Rolling Stones on a Road to Excile”. The book goes into great detail about what a jerk Mick Jagger is, about Keith Richards still being on drugs, the band’s tax problems, the women, the cheating, and everything else bad – 3 Stars.
Quickies – Dylan Penn, Sean and Robin Wright’s 23 year old gorgeous daughter is posing nearly nude in several magazines, and while she is BEAUTIFUL, Sean tried to talk her out of the magazine shoot and into acting instead.
