Report for Thursday, July 25th

Show Biz Business: As you know, I’m not a big fan of Disney, and earlier this week told you that employees of Disneyland, California Disney Adventure, Downtown Disney and other parks had voted to strike. Well yesterday, Disney decided to give into their employees union demands. Guarantee that happened for two reasons. 1, It was the right thing to do. 2, Disney didn’t want a strike and the bad publicity! One more Disney nugget. The biggest single Disney stock holder is Ike Perlmutter who this week sold his 25.6 million shares for $115 each for $2,944,100,000 saying the reason he sold them, “I have lost confidence in Disney management.”

Hollywood and Politics: I hear that last week, prior to President Biden bowing out, Obama and George Clooney together made calls to some big Hollywood names including Barbara Streisand, Jane Fonda, Julia Roberts and Kerry Washington.

TV News and Sports Shorts: One week from tonight is the first NFL pre-season game. Again, matching up the Houston Texans and Chicago Bears on ABC and ESPN-TV! … Last years WNBA All-Star game without sensation Caitlin Clark drew 1 million TV viewers. Last Saturday’s WNBA All-Star game with Clark drew 3,425,000! I can say no more. … And the Mike Tyson/Jake Paul fight is back on for November 15th from Cowboy stadium and will be seen on Netflix and is expected to draw at least 20 million viewers.

Weird Movie News: Back in 1972, Jerry Lewis wrote, directed and starred in the movie, The Day The Clown Cried. It was never released, but soon will be! It’s about a clown in Nazi Germany who is fired from a circus, gets drunk at a local bar, makes fun of Hitler, and ends up in Auschwitz entertaining Jewish children before they are put to death. Wow.

Head’s up, don’t forget my review of Deadpool and Wolverine tomorrow!
