Movie Review Friday: And we start with the Expendables 4. All the promotion for this movie promised more noise, more violence, more explosions, more killing and more blood and guts than you’ve ever seen in any movie and they got it done! It’s over the top and believe me, this is no Disney flick! Jason Statham, 50 Cent, Megan Fox, Andy Garcia, and Sylvester Stallone star in this non-stop chaos that also tries to be cute. The meanest mercenaries in the world with the deadliest weapons in the world get together and you’ll need a strong stomach and bring earplugs. So here’s the deal, what they set out to do, they did it right, but too violent and bloody for me. If you like this kind of movie it’s 4 Stars. For me, Rated a hard R, 1 Hour 43 Minutes, 1 ½ Stars. But again, that’s just me.
Next, Dumb Money is a brilliant movie. It’s a true story about an average nine to five Joe, with a small child, trying to make ends meet and decides to dabble in the on-line stock market. Our hero puts up his small life savings and starts screaming with a lot of enthusiasm about the Mall Game Store called, GameStop. And all hell breaks loose. All of a sudden their stock explodes and everybody is buying and then here come the huge hedge fund bigwigs. Fortunes are made and lost at a drop of a hat and it really is a Game Stop. The movie stars Paul Dano, Pete Davidson, America Ferrera and Seth Rogan. And again, it’s a true story! It’s 21st Century financial David versus Goliath (Rated R) – (1 Hour 45 Minutes) – (3.5 Stars).
Sports Shorts: A lot of people will be watching Deion Sanders’s Cinderella team, Colorado Buffalo, who won a double overtime game last week. But this week they play #10 Oregon at Oregon. They are a 21 point dog. I think they cover, hope they win! I’m 7 for 8 in my Friday football picks. This week’s College pick, Texas. NFL picks are Miami, Dallas and Kansas City. Write it down.
