Movie News: Just a reminder, Barbie (3 Stars) and Oppenheimer (4 Stars) both open today and I predict Barbie could lap Oppenheimer as far as the box office. And people are still shocked that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is getting $50 million for starring in Red One, an action adventure comedy, which makes him the highest paid star in history, this while the writers and SAG are striking. Just poetic.
TV News: Wild rumor at the Sony lot in Culver City, that Jeopardy producers are considering a new host, Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik could be replaced. … Apparently Vanna White knows a lot of Wheel of Fortune secrets that the producers don’t want made public, and apparently it will take $7 million a year salary to keep them secret. Prediction, this is going to get very ugly. … The original series, Justified with Timothy Olyphant was fabulous. So, I was excited for the spin series, Justified: City Primeval was coming out this week. I was wrong,
it is horrible, a money grab, hideous writing, lazy acting and just bad in every way. … On the other hand, Rock Hudson: All That Heaven Allowed which is on HBO and MAX, is a fascinating documentary. Hudson was voted Hollywood’s sexiest and best looking man for decades and every female star wanted to make a movie with him. However, at the end of his career Rock came out gay. It’s a great documentary and remember Quarterbacks on Netflix, one season, eight episodes (4 Stars).
